Maria Luz is a visual artist from Portugal investigating the loneliness of everyday city life. Her work portrays the pursuit of beauty in abandoned objects and places, using light and colour as a door to landscapes of nostalgia. She works essentially with painting and film photography.
She has participated in many art exhibitions in Portugal and won the Young Art Prize 2022 by Millennium BCP and Carpe Diem. In 2021 she finished her bachelor’s degree in Painting at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Lisbon, after leaving the bachelor’s of Industrial Design at ESAD.CR. Between February and June 2020, she studied at the University of Ljubljana Faculty of Arts, Slovenia, under the Erasmus programme. Maria Luz has been exhibiting her art work regularly since 2017, collaborating with other artists on various projects.
